THE SEVEN CONTINENTS

Naked Glaciers is a long-term photographic and cinematic expedition dedicated to documenting disappearing glaciers across all seven continents.

Over the coming years, the project will create a visual archive of some of the world’s most vulnerable and rapidly changing glacial landscapes. Through photography, film, exhibitions, publications, and educational outreach, Naked Glaciers seeks to preserve the memory of these extraordinary environments before they disappear.

EUROPE

Completed / In Progress

EUROPE

Current Chapter

France • Switzerland • Italy

The European Alps are the starting point of the Naked Glaciers expedition. Through photography and film, this chapter explores the beauty, fragility, and transformation of alpine ice landscapes in one of the regions most visibly affected by climate change.
Among the glaciers planned for future documentation are the Rhône Glacier, Grand Méan Glacier, Aletsch Glacier, Mer de Glace, and other emblematic glacier systems across the Alps.
This first chapter lays the foundation for a long-term visual archive of disappearing glaciers across all seven continents.

AFRICA

Next Chapter

Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) • Mount Kenya

The remaining glaciers of Africa are among the most endangered on Earth and may disappear within the coming decades. This chapter of the expedition aims to document these fragile ice formations before they are lost forever.

—-

ASIA

Future chapters will explore glacier systems across:

The Himalayas
Bhutan
Pakistan
Tajikistan
India

These glaciers provide freshwater resources for hundreds of millions of people and are among the most critical indicators of climate change.

—-

NORTH & SOUTH AMERICA

Future documentation will include glaciers in:

Greenland
Alaska
Canada
Patagonia
Chile
Argentina

These vast ice fields are experiencing some of the most dramatic transformations observed anywhere on the planet.

—-

OCEANIA

Future chapters will include:

New Zealand
Papua
Indonesia

The expedition will document some of the southern hemisphere’s most unique and rapidly changing glacial environments.

—-

ANTARCTICA

The expedition will explore some of the planet’s most significant and vulnerable ice systems, including regions surrounding Pine Island and Thwaites glaciers, whose evolution has profound implications for global sea-level rise.

IMPACT

Beyond documenting glaciers, the project seeks to foster dialogue about climate change and humanity’s relationship with the natural world.

Through exhibitions, publications, schools, conferences, museums, film screenings, and digital platforms, Naked Glaciers aims to reach audiences across generations, cultures, and borders.

The expedition also contributes to local economies by collaborating with mountain guides, researchers, technical crews, and cultural institutions in each region visited.

By combining art, documentary storytelling, and environmental awareness, Naked Glaciers aspires to create a lasting record of these extraordinary landscapes and inspire a deeper understanding of their importance for our planet and future generations.
